Somewhere in Mumbai
Somewhere in Mumbai
Somewhere in Mumbai, where bats hang upside down,
Screeching aloud in the quiet dawn, in gardens all around.
Somewhere in Mumbai, on towering heights so grand,
Bees make their home, with a buzzing, busy band.
Somewhere in Mumbai, in Matunga or Bandra’s lanes,
A gazillion cats roam, like royalty -with no reins.
Somewhere in Mumbai, are parakeets not parrots, take their flight
Rose-ringed and alexandrine , munching on fruits, what a sight
Somewhere in Mumbai, visitors from lands afar,
Flamingos grace the shores, a pink carpet beneath the stars.
Somewhere in Mumbai, on a monsoon’s magical trail,
Walk hand-in-hand with your child, seeking mushrooms and snails.
