Tales from Kaziranga
Kaziranga a Forest !- whose home is it anyway?
A place that holds in it, life forms beyond ones imagination,
It stands for the trees, the mammals, the insects and all forms in hibernation.
It belongs to a Rhino who is all out to impress his mate,
The dominant male battles the other bulls and decides his fate
It's home to one of the hardworking beings, like the wild boars,
Who besides cuddling and wallowing have many important chores.
They dig the entire forest soil upside down and are natural composters,
Just coz their food is the root, in a forest each one has to perform their roles.
A forest is about every tree-crooked, bare or tall,
Each plant and tree is a giver even if it has had a fall.
Did you know there is survival of the fittest even in trees?
And also that trees have tumors or parasitic behaviours?
A forest is a haven to a bird that migrates each year,
And a sacred place for the animals, even if each moment of its life is filled with fear.
It's home to the hare and mongoose, that live in burrows under the ground,
And much the same for a giant wood spider, whose web in mid air was found!
A forest provides shelter to...
The spotted Deer
The hairy Bear
The pretty Butterflies
The slender Damselflies
The jewel-like Peafowl
The colourful Jungle Fowl
The calm looking Indian Gaur
The mischievous Langur
The roofed turtle
The greater Adjutant
And in fact..
It will be unfair if you didn't call it a home for
The responsible Forest officer
The simpleton Forest guide
The alert Safari Driver
And the risk-taking Patrolling Guy!
